Waymo to bring driverless cars to Detroit Auto Show

According to foreign media reports recently, Waymo, a new driverless technology company under Google, announced that it will exhibit the Chrysler Pacifica driverless car at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

The Chrysler Pacifica is a new car created by Google and FCA in a partnership to bring 100 self-driving cars to the market. It will be on display during a speech by Waymo CEO John Krafcik on January 8 and as part of the Automobili-D event before the start of the Detroit Auto Show media day.

Krafcik previously posted on social media that he would give a speech on the architecture of the car and what Waymo has been working on since October 2015. It is understood that Waymo has built a fully driverless car without brake pads.

Waymo released a photo of a Chrysler Pacifica on Monday as the first batch of Chrysler self-driving vehicles were delivered to Waymo and will officially hit the road in 2017.

Waymo is Alphabet's self-driving car project that was spun off into a separate company, Waymo, on December 13, 2016. The name Waymo stands for "A new way forward in mobility".
