According to Reuters, three French Mercedes-Benz owners have filed a lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler, accusing the company of consumer fraud in the diesel engine emissions incident. Frederik-Karel Canoy, the attorney representing the three owners, told Reuters that the owners owned A-class, E-class and S-class models. According to a person familiar with the French judicial system, the Paris prosecutor's office accepted the case on March 24 local time. As of press time, Daimler has not responded to the matter. In fact, on March 22, local time, the Stuttgart Inspection Office in Germany officially launched an investigation into a case accusing Daimler employees of suspected fraud and false advertising. After Volkswagen Group was exposed for diesel cheating in 2015, French authorities tested 24 car brands, including Mercedes-Benz. Based on the files submitted by DGCCRF (French Competition, Consumer and Fraud Prevention Directorate), the Paris inspection authorities conducted a comprehensive investigation on Volkswagen, Renault and Fiat Chrysler, and are currently considering taking measures against PSA Group. As for the Opel brand that just joined PSA, DGCCRF recently stated that it did not find any strong evidence, so it ended the investigation on Opel. In 2010, Daimler and the Renault-Nissan Alliance reached an agreement. According to reports, many Mercedes-Benz A-Class, B-Class and C-Class models are equipped with Renault diesel engines.
