An Shihao appointed head of Volkswagen North American sales

According to foreign media reports, Volkswagen Group of America has appointed Werner Eichhorn as head of sales and marketing for the Volkswagen brand in North America. Previously, Werner Eichhorn served as general manager of the sales division of FAW-Volkswagen Audi.

An Shihao, 54, will take up the position of Director of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen North America on September 1 this year, mainly responsible for sales and marketing in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Last month, Volkswagen USA just appointed Derrick Hatami as vice president of sales and marketing in the U.S. A spokesperson for the Volkswagen brand said that after An Shihao takes office, Hatami will report directly to An Shihao; An Shihao and Hatami will report to Hinrich Woebcken, CEO of Volkswagen North America.

An Shihao joined the Volkswagen Group in 1982 and has since held relevant positions in Volkswagen's many European markets. From January 2006 to June 2008, he served as General Manager of the Audi Sales Division of FAW-Volkswagen China. He then returned to Germany to serve as Head of Volkswagen's Passenger Cars Division. He then joined the Skoda brand marketing and sales board of the Volkswagen Group.

Despite the continuous downturn in the US auto industry in the first half of this year, Volkswagen has achieved outstanding sales performance in the United States. In fact, since the end of 2016, the Volkswagen brand has gradually recovered from the diesel emissions scandal and has achieved year-on-year growth for 8 consecutive months. In June this year, Volkswagen brand sales in the United States were 27,377 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 15% from 23,809 vehicles last year. In the first half of this year, the brand's cumulative sales in the United States were 161,238 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 8.2%.
