Faurecia to build third plant in Morocco to produce interior and emission control parts

According to foreign media reports, French automotive supplier Faurecia said on July 13 local time that it plans to open a third plant in Morocco to produce automotive interior and emission control parts for its parent company PSA Group and other customers.

Faurecia CEO Patrick Koller said in a statement that the new plant will start construction next year in the coastal city of Kenitra and is expected to cost 557 million euros. In the statement, Koller also announced the official start of construction of Faurecia's second Moroccan plant, which is located in Sale, north of the Moroccan capital Rabat, and mainly produces seats.

The second seat plant, which cost AED 170 million (EUR 15.4 million), employs 1,300 people and produces seat covers and leather trim for the Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 5008 and PSA's Opel brand.

Carmakers Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobiles own 46.3% of Faurecia, which ranks eighth on Automotive News Europe's 2017 list of the world's top 100 auto suppliers, with worldwide sales of $20.7 billion in 2016, with Europe accounting for half of that total.
