50th Anniversary: ​​Nissan and Italdesign Create the Ultimate GT-R50

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the GT-R family, Nissan has just teamed up with Italdesign to create a special version of the GT-R prototype exterior design. The model of this celebration custom prototype is GT-R50, which has an amazing 710hp horsepower. After seeing the picture, I believe many people will be amazed - why haven't the two companies cooperated in the past half century?

As a preview of major global auto shows, the GT-R50 also, to a certain extent, foreshadows the development direction of the next generation of GT-R.

However, it should be pointed out that the GT-R50 is actually based on the 2018 GT-R Nismo, but it is covered with a new and stylish shell.

A team of American and European Nissan designers was responsible for the interior and exterior of the GT-R50, while Italdesign was responsible for designing and building the prototype.

The GT-R50 will be immediately distinguished by its thick gold grille, slim LED headlights, and wilder hood compared to the production version.

On the side, the GT-R50's waistline contour is smoother and the height of the vehicle has been further lowered by 2 inches (54 mm).

The unique shape is further enhanced by a narrow channel running down the middle of the roof, and the "Katana" air vents behind the front wheel arches are also accentuated and extended in gold.

The back of the body is the biggest difference between the GT-R50 and the ordinary model. The "Liquid Kinetic Gray" on the side wings and top complements the "Energetic Sigma Gold" of the small windshield surrounding the body.

This "golden area" is interrupted by the further protruding adjustable rear wing. The roofline extends deeper and the taillights have a more three-dimensional appearance, looking like two pairs of rings floating on a golden sea.

Internally, Nissan apparently felt that Nismo wasn't enough, so it copied a page from the GT3 - increasing the horsepower and torque of the 3.8L V6 engine to 710hp and 575 lb-ft, respectively.

The engine's supporting components have also been strengthened, including dual GT3-spec high-flow turbochargers, intercoolers, high-flow fuel injectors, a set of heavy-duty crankshafts, pistons, connecting rods and bearings, and a reinforced dual-clutch transmission kit.

It is worth mentioning that Nissan has also upgraded a Beeston wet electronic performance suspension system based on Nismo, which can continuously adjust the damping.

In terms of wheels, the GT-R50 uses 21-inch wheels + Michelin high-performance sports car tires, with the front wheels being 255/35 R21 and the rear wheels being 285/30 R21.

For braking, the GT-R50 uses a bright red Brembo caliper kit. The performance-focused interior features a mix of Alcantara and Italian leather seats, as well as two different types of carbon fiber (distributed around the dashboard, center console, and door frames).

The subtle gold hue matches the gold paint on the outside, and there's also a set of custom wheels with carbon fiber and spokes.
