Dongfeng Honda recalls 294,511 Civics due to high oil level

On July 9, Dongfeng Honda Automobile officially issued a statement, deciding to recall some 2016-2017 Civic (CIVIC) vehicles equipped with 1.5T engines produced from December 15, 2015 to May 17, 2018, totaling 294,511 vehicles, starting from July 16, 2018.

Recently, Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the "Regulations on the Management of Recall of Defective Automobile Products" and the "Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Management of Recall of Defective Automobile Products".

It is reported that due to design reasons, the engine oil level of some vehicles within the scope of this recall will increase when the vehicle continues to travel short distances in a low-temperature environment. When the oil level rises to a certain level, the engine fault indicator light will light up. If the vehicle continues to run in this state, it may cause engine damage, posing a safety hazard.

Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace the air-conditioning control unit and upgrade the FI-ECU software for vehicles within the recall scope free of charge. For models equipped with CVT gearboxes, it will also replace the radiator downpipe assembly and upgrade the TCU software to suppress the increase in engine oil level and eliminate safety hazards.

When the recall is implemented, the engine oil and oil filter will be replaced free of charge for the vehicles within the scope, and engine cleaner will be added.

Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. will send the "Defective Automobile Product Recall Notice" to the owners of vehicles within the recall scope through registered mail and other means, and Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd.'s authorized sales and service stores will notify the relevant owners by text message, telephone and other means.
