Recently, NIO disclosed in its prospectus that the company plans to launch a five-seater high-performance electric SUV "ES6" by the end of 2018 and start deliveries in the first half of 2019. ES6 and ES8 are developed based on the same platform, but will be smaller in size and priced approximately RMB 80,000 to 100,000 lower than ES8 (the actual purchase price is approximately RMB 180,000 to 200,000). According to NIO's plan, the company expects to equip the ES6 with a new electric propulsion system in the second half of 2019. The system will use a new dual permanent magnet or PM motor to bring better energy saving effects. The NIO ES6 is also expected to be equipped with a higher density battery pack, which can provide a range of more than 450 kilometers. In terms of appearance, the NIO ES6 has redesigned the fog lamp area and lower bumper at the front of the car, with a stronger sense of layering. The size of the NIO ES6 is similar to that of the new BMW X3. Currently, there is only one product on sale in this market segment, the Borgward BXi7. However, SAIC Roewe will launch a pure electric SUV called MARVEL X at the end of August this year, and BYD's new generation Tang EV will also go on sale in December this year. These three cars are generally regarded by the outside world as the primary competitors of the NIO ES6. NIO has already regarded the ES6 model as the "vanguard" to grab more sales share in the market segments. It will move towards the sales target of 60,000 vehicles in 2019, and this number will increase to 200,000 vehicles by 2021.
