Nvidia launches its first open autonomous driving platform, which will be officially launched on October 1

According to foreign media reports, at the Ground Transportation Center (GTC) in Japan, NVIDIA launched an NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier development kit, a platform for building autonomous driving systems. Such open, scalable software and hardware solutions allow companies to seamlessly develop and test customized autonomous driving technologies and simplify production. The development kit will be officially launched on October 1.

The development kit includes the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier car computer, a car wiring harness to connect the car to the platform, an international power supply, camera sensors, and other accessories. NVIDIA DRIVE AGX is part of the NVIDIA AGX platform, which is mainly used for autonomous machines, power robots, medical devices, and self-driving cars.

The platform runs NVIDIA DRIVE software version 1.0, which includes various operations required for autonomous driving, including data collection, obstacle and path perception, advanced driver monitoring, and in-vehicle visualization. The version also includes DriveWorks modules for sensor abstraction layers, as well as computer vision and image processing libraries that simplify autonomous driving development.

The platform is open, allowing companies to build their own applications on top of the base software and continuously improve it through over-the-air updates.

DRIVE software can be updated over the air to improve functionality and add new features over time. The NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier development kit platform is also scalable, allowing automakers to simplify the development process.

Early customers have been testing DRIVE AGX Xavier since the beginning of the year. Now, the platform is available to all automakers for full development of autonomous driving systems.
