Nissan Teana with oil drained caught fire during C-NCAP test, losing its five-star safety title

Fires are common in car accidents due to gasoline and other fluids, but fires are less common in crash tests of cars with the fluid drained.

Recently, Nissan Teana encountered such an embarrassing situation during the C-NCAP collision test.

The headline account "主試角" published a post today saying that the engine of the Teana China Auto Research Institute caught fire for unknown reasons during a head-on collision, and the fire was located under the engine.

The headline account "Dongchedi Report" also published an article stating that professionals speculate that it is not ruled out that the fire was caused by the oil in the car not being completely drained.

According to the on-site pictures exposed online, the Nissan Teana caught fire after conducting a 100% frontal collision test. In the picture, the staff were using a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, and no open flames were captured in the picture.

According to C-NCAP's current crash test rules, if a vehicle catches fire after a collision, its overall score will automatically be reduced by one star, which means that the Nissan Teana will not be able to achieve "five-star safety" in this test.

It is reported that the vehicle participating in the collision test is the Nissan Teana 2.0L CVT XL Comfort model, with an official guide price of 187,800 yuan. It was not a vehicle sent for inspection by the manufacturer, but was purchased independently from a dealer by C-NCAP.

Previously, China Insurance Research Institute (C-IASI) also conducted a collision test on the Nissan Teana model, which was the 2019 Nissan Teana 2.0L XL Comfort model.

Except for the crashworthiness and repair economy rating of fair (M), all other test indexes were excellent (G), including the most difficult side collision and 25% front offset collision.
