On the afternoon of January 17, Tesla’s first general manager in China, Zheng Shunjing, passed away. The reason has not yet been announced.

Zheng Shunjing served as the general manager of Tesla China from March 2013 to April 2014. Zheng Shunjing made important contributions to Tesla's expansion in China. Tesla CEO Elon Musk even said in an interview at the time that "China is expected to surpass the United States to become Tesla's largest single market in the world."

As for the reason for his departure from Tesla, some industry analysts believe that Zheng Shunjing is good at promoting and selling luxury brands, while Tesla needed to quickly expand sales after entering China, and there were some conceptual differences between the two.

In early 2017, Zheng Shunjing joined Mobike as CMO Chief Marketing Officer, mainly responsible for the marketing of Mobike and reporting directly to Mobike founder and president Hu Weiwei.

Prior to joining Tesla, Zheng Shunjing joined Hong Kong Dah Chong Hong Group in 2003, responsible for Bentley's business development in mainland China.
