CDC: Number of confirmed cases of monkeypox in the U.S. reaches 10,392

The latest data released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently showed that the number of confirmed cases of monkeypox in the United States has reached 10,392. The United States has the highest number of monkeypox cases in the world, and the government's poor response has attracted criticism from many parties. According to the data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1,391 new cases of monkeypox were reported in the United States on the 10th. This is the first time that the number of new cases in a single day has exceeded 1,000 since the first monkeypox case was reported in May.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency on the 4th. The U.S. government recently said it has distributed about 600,000 doses of vaccine and ordered a large number of vaccines. However, the New York Times revealed that experts estimate that 3.5 million doses of vaccine are needed to control the outbreak, and 500,000 of the 1.1 million doses ordered will not be delivered until October. The other 5.5 million doses of monkeypox vaccine ordered by the United States will not be delivered until next year according to the contract period.

California is a state with a high number of monkeypox cases in the United States. The state senate formed a special monkeypox response committee to hold its first meeting on the 9th, calling on the federal government to take more action to control the epidemic. The committee leader, state senator Scott Wiener, said that the US government has repeatedly failed in public health response, but has not learned lessons and has messed things up again.
