Nissan launches Nismo Watch concept smartwatch: can monitor fuel consumption speed

[September 10 news] Automobile manufacturer Nissan intends to use smart watches as a link for the Internet of Vehicles. According to foreign media reports, Nissan announced the concept of Nismo Watch today. It is completely different from the positioning of smart watches such as Galaxy Gear. Nismo Watch aims to connect drivers and cars.

Specific features include:

Monitor the average speed of the car and the average fuel consumption rate;

Access telematics and performance data;

biometric data via heart rate monitor;

Connects to the car via smartphone app and Bluetooth Low Energy

Receive push notifications from Nissan.

For example, while driving, the Nismo Watch can monitor the driver's health status in real time, including information such as heart rate, and issue a warning if the data is abnormal.

The concept map released by Nissan shows that the Nismo Watch comes in black and red. The strap and screen are fully wrapped, which seems to be to prevent damage. The watch is charged via a micro-USB port, and Nissan claims that the battery can last for seven days.

Designed for Nissan's Nismo lineup of cars, including the 370Z, Juke and the upcoming GT-R, the Nismo Watch concept will be on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week.

In fact, in addition to Nissan's concentrated biological monitoring, there are many things that can be done around wearable devices for the Internet of Vehicles, such as using smart watches as car keys, monitoring car safety, finding car locations, monitoring onboard charging, importing data into the OBDII system, etc. When the development direction of wearable devices, especially smart watches, is still unclear, making smart watches with the Internet of Things thinking and connecting them to cars may be a good development direction.

Nissan is currently considering adding more features to its smartwatch technology in the future, including electrocardiogram, electroencephalogram, skin temperature monitoring, etc. (End)
