China Association of Automobile Manufacturers: China's new energy vehicle production and sales will reach 7.058 million and 6.887 million respectively in 2022

The latest statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that my country's new energy vehicles continued to grow explosively in 2022, with production and sales reaching 7.058 million and 6.887 million units respectively, up 96.9% and 93.4% year-on-year respectively, ranking first in the world for eight consecutive years.

The market size is the largest in the world. Last year, my country sold 6.887 million new energy vehicles throughout the year, with a market share of 25.6%, 12.1 percentage points higher than the previous year, and a global sales share of more than 60%. Among them, pure electric vehicle sales were 5.365 million, a year-on-year increase of 81.6%; plug-in hybrid vehicle sales were 1.518 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.5 times.

Brand competitiveness has been greatly improved. In 2022, the domestic market sales of self-owned brand new energy passenger vehicles will reach 79.9%, an increase of 5.4 percentage points year-on-year; 679,000 new energy vehicles will be exported, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times. Among the top ten corporate groups in the world in terms of new energy vehicle sales, my country occupies 3 seats, and among the top ten companies in terms of power battery installed capacity, my country occupies 6 seats.

The supporting environment is increasingly optimized. By the end of 2022, a total of 5.21 million charging piles and 1,973 battery swap stations will be built nationwide, of which 2.593 million charging piles and 675 battery swap stations will be added in 2022, and the construction of charging and swapping infrastructure will be significantly accelerated. A total of more than 10,000 power battery recycling service outlets have been established, basically realizing local recycling.

A relevant official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that my country's new energy vehicles have now entered a period of comprehensive market expansion and are expected to maintain a rapid growth trend this year.
