TechInsights: Chinese suppliers will dominate the global IoT module & gateway market in 2022

A recent research report released by TechInsights pointed out that in 2022 , the global IoT module and gateway market shipments and revenue increased by 6% and 18% year-on-year respectively . Chinese suppliers maintain their dominant market share - in terms of shipments, the top five are all Chinese suppliers, and in terms of revenue, two of the top five suppliers are Chinese companies. In the past few years, Chinese IoT module and gateway suppliers have dominated in terms of module shipments, among which Quectel Communications has been the market leader in module shipments and revenue for three consecutive years.

Global IoT module shipments reached 505 million in 2022. The top five suppliers in terms of shipments are Quectel, Fibocom, Sunsea, China Mobile (OneMO) and MeiG, accounting for 64% of the total global IoT module shipments . In terms of revenue, two of the top five suppliers are Chinese manufacturers, and the other three are Western manufacturers - Sierra Wireless , u-Blox and the newly formed Telit Cinterion ( Telit & Thales merged by Q123 ). The top five suppliers account for 62 % of the total IoT module and gateway revenue , with Quectel dominating the market, with a revenue share higher than the second largest supplier Telit Cinterion by more than 20% .

In the entire IoT module and gateway market, there are a large number of emerging suppliers, which are part of " Others " . Most of the suppliers included in " Others " are emerging Chinese suppliers, such as Qijun IoT, Gosuncn IoT, Wutong Group, etc. TechInsights also studied some of the more important IoT module suppliers, such as Murata , Rolling Wireless, WNC , Cavli Wireless , AM Telecom , Digi , ZTE, LG , Kyocera , and gateway suppliers, such as Cradlepoint , Cisco , Netcomm , and Teltonika , etc., so as to have a more comprehensive estimate of the total global IoT module and gateway market.
