Surprise: Hackers love to set simple passwords
When we are online, we are always afraid that hackers will peek at our passwords. Have you ever thought about how hackers do it? Do they use passwords that are frighteningly complex? According to a survey by security experts, most hackers are at least as careless as we are about passwords. For research purposes, security expert Antonin Hyza has been studying malware for many years, and in the process has collected many passwords used by hackers, totaling more than 40,000. After careful investigation, he found that the average length of these passwords is only six characters. Among the 1,601 samples sampled, only 52 were longer than 12 characters. What's more interesting is that nearly 10% of these passwords are composed of common words and only use lowercase letters. Many hackers have very advanced skills, but they are too lazy to distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters when setting passwords. Hyza said that this made it easy for him to figure out these people's hacking tricks. But then again, even if hackers don't care much about their own security, it doesn't mean that we have the ability to fight back. Maybe this will make many people more confident to use the simple passwords they used before.
