At the end of this month, a new paper media will abandon printing abroad. Scot Finnie, editor-in-chief of Computer World, recently said that the printed version of Computer World will cease publication at the end of the month. The revised magazine content will be presented through electronic magazines and websites, and the content terminal display will have corresponding changes. This is a well-known technology magazine with a history of 47 years. Scot Finnie said that although he was reluctant, he emphasized that the cessation of the printed version of Computer World did not mean the death of the magazine. In the future, the editorial department will transform digital channels and present the latest content to readers through electronic magazines and websites. After the paper version is discontinued, the content of the official website of Computer World will be revised, from news first to special topics, comments, and selections. Readers who have subscribed to Computer World will get the electronic version link through email, and its electronic terminal display format will be optimized on the previous basis. The move of Computer World is just one of the chain reactions of foreign paper media in responding to the technological changes of the Internet and mobile Internet. At first, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer stopped issuing printed newspapers, and the Christian Science Monitor, U.S. News & World Report, and the New York Times also gave up printing and developed online channels. At the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair, 840 people in the publishing industry predicted that books printed on paper would disappear in 2018. However, the reporter noticed that under the situation of declining revenue, although some domestic paper media have closed down, the mainstream media has not yet abandoned the print version and turned to the Internet. This round of revenue decline crisis is due to the fact that advertisers control their spending under the situation of macroeconomic downturn, and the income of paper media that rely on the "secondary sales" business model of advertising has been affected; on the other hand, the formation of free reading habits to obtain information through electronic devices is also reducing the effectiveness of paper media advertising. A senior advertising person who recently resigned wrote: "The decline in advertising effectiveness will inevitably squeeze out advertisers whose direct purpose is to drive sales, and the type of advertising that directly drives sales is the absolute majority of all advertising types, with a proportion of at least 60-70%."
