The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued a new rule that requires some foreign airports to turn on their mobile phones before boarding flights to the United States. The new rule was published on the TSA's official website on Sunday local time in the United States. In addition, the rule also states that those devices that are out of power will not be allowed on the plane, and the holders may face re-screening. As for why the new rule was introduced, the TSA mentioned the recent statement by US Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, who said that the security level will be increased during the Independence Day. However, the TSA did not explain the reason for the new rule in its statement. However, according to Reuters, the implementation of this measure is related to the US security agency's concern that terrorists can use mobile phones as explosive devices. The report also mentioned that Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy series smartphones will be the focus of attention.
