BYD released its 2023 semi-annual report, which showed that in the first half of this year, BYD achieved operating income of 260.124 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 72.72%; net profit attributable to shareholders of 10.954 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 204.68%; basic earnings per share of 3.77 yuan. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in the first half of 2023, BYD's new energy vehicle market share further expanded to 33.5%, an increase of 6.5% over 2022, not only consolidating its leading position in China's new energy vehicle industry, but also retaining the world's top sales ranking.

It is reported that in the field of new energy passenger vehicles, BYD took the lead in sales in the first half of the year, achieving a significant growth of nearly 100% year-on-year, and firmly ranked first in passenger car sales among Chinese automakers.

BYD said that in the first half of 2023, despite the challenges of intensified competition in the automotive industry and the cancellation of subsidies for new energy vehicles, BYD's new energy passenger vehicle business continued to maintain good profitability thanks to its continuously improving brand power, continuously expanding scale advantages and strong cost control capabilities in the industrial chain, coupled with the decline in upstream raw material prices.

It is understood that in August this year, BYD's 5 millionth new energy vehicle officially rolled off the production line. This is not only a new milestone for BYD, but also the world's first car company to unlock this achievement.
