Apple iCloud briefly down, possibly to fix new iOS 8 vulnerability

Apple has confirmed that iCloud has temporarily been down, affecting services such as mail, contacts and photos. Apple's page said "some users may not be able to access all features and services, and it will take at least an hour to restore services."

The page has been restored and iCloud-related services are gradually returning to normal. Apple has not given a reason for the outage.

However, this downtime occurred after Apple released the iOS 8.1 update to developers. And yesterday, American technology blog MacRumors reported that due to a newly discovered vulnerability in iOS 8, when users choose the "Reset All Settings" option on their iPhone, the documents in iCloud Drive will be permanently deleted.

I hope Apple can fix the iCloud vulnerability once and for all this time.
