China Unicom's 4G strategy confirmed: centralized operation and control of marketing in various regions

At the recent China Unicom Dual 4G Leading Plan Industry Chain High-end Summit, China Unicom Vice President Xiong Yu introduced Unicom's dual 4G strategy, namely "the leading mobile broadband strategy led by 4G", adhering to the "dual 4G leading market strategy based on centralized operation" to achieve nationwide centralized and unified operation. The industry believes that this means that Unicom's 4G tariffs will still be unified nationwide.

It is reported that dual 4G refers to China Unicom's 4G with two modes, FDD and TDD. Dual 100M refers to LTE FDD Internet access up to 150Mbps and TD-LTE Internet access up to 100Mbps. The FDD/TDD dual network ensures global access.

At the summit, China Unicom launched the "Dual 4G Leadership Plan", which will unite all parties in the industry chain to achieve leadership in products, channels and experience.

Xiong Yu said that China Unicom will focus on improving capabilities in four areas, namely network, business, sales and support, to achieve the construction of a win-win ecosystem for the industrial chain.

Among them, in terms of operational support, China Unicom has established a national centralized operation system with "four levels", namely, level one operation process and operating model, level one product design and marketing activity control, level one command and dispatch and organizational control, and level one information system.

In the previous 3G era, China Unicom implemented the "six unified" operations, while in the 4G era it is "national unified and centralized operations."

Industry insiders believe that this means that China Unicom will still be a nationwide strategy in the 4G era, with unified tariffs across the country, and will not allow local areas to set their own tariff packages and engage in price wars.

In fact, in the 3G era, China Unicom has captured part of the mid-to-high-end market, which has proved the correctness of the "six unifications" operator policy and is also envied by China Mobile and China Telecom.
