China Automobile Association: China's automobile production and sales will both exceed 30 million units for the first time in 2023

It is reported that China's automobile production and sales in 2023 reached 30.161 million and 30.094 million respectively, an increase of 11.6% and 12% year -on-year, setting a historical record high.

Among them, China's automobile exports also hit a new high. The annual automobile exports in 2023 were 4.91 million units , a year-on-year increase of 57.9%. The contribution rate of exports to the growth of total automobile sales was as high as 55.7%. China is expected to become the world's largest automobile exporter .

In 2023, 3.707 million traditional fuel oil vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 52.4%, and 1.203 million new energy vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 77.6%.

It is understood that among the top ten automakers in vehicle exports in 2023, BYD exported 252,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 3.3 times, Chery exported 925,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 1 times, and Great Wall exported 316,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 82.5%.

China's passenger car market also shows a good growth trend. In 2023, China's passenger car production and sales reached 26.124 million and 26.063 million respectively , up 9.6% and 10.6% year-on-year respectively. This is the ninth consecutive year that China's passenger car market has exceeded 20 million vehicles.

The new energy vehicle market has maintained a rapid growth trend and has ranked first in the world for nine consecutive years. In 2023, China's production and sales of new energy vehicles will reach 9.587 million and 9.495 million respectively , up 35.8% and 37.9% year-on-year respectively, and its market share will reach 31.6%, 5.9% higher than the same period last year.

In addition, the my country Automobile Association also made forecasts for automobile production and sales in 2024. It predicts that China's total automobile sales in 2024 will exceed 31 million, an increase of more than 3% year-on-year.
