Meizu MX5 hands-on experience with full metal body

Meizu, which releases new phones at a rapid pace, released its 2015 flagship MX5 on the last day of June this year. Its all-metal body, fingerprint recognition and price of 1,799 yuan show its full market competitiveness. We also got this fifth-generation Meizu "dream work" as quickly as possible.

There are only three words "MX5" on the front of the Meizu MX5's outer packaging, which is simple, clear and highly recognizable.

Unlike the Meizu Blue Note 2 released not long ago, the classic design of flipping the page to open the packaging has returned to the Meizu MX5. The reason for this may be that Meizu really needs to use a few color pages to show new features such as mCharge and mTouch2.0 to users.

The packaging contents of Meizu MX5 include mobile phone, card pin and charging equipment. After adding mCharge fast charging, the charger specification of Meizu MX5 is 12V\2A.

The front visual experience of Meizu MX5 is similar to that of last year's MX4 Pro which also has a fingerprint recognition function. There are 5 antenna openings at the four corners of the metal frame.

Unlike the previous MX4 Pro, the home button of the Meizu MX5 equipped with fingerprint recognition function is more similar to the recently released Meizu Blue Note2. The button feels the same as all Meizu phones equipped with physical home buttons, with a short and hard key travel.

The all-metal body is the biggest surprise that Meizu MX5 brings us. There is no more confusing removable back cover. Combined with fine polishing, you can see the improvement in the manufacturing process of Meizu MX5 from the back at first glance.

Meizu MX5 has added POM material with strength similar to that of steel to the USB port in order to enhance the wear resistance of the interface after long-term use. The T-slot reserved for the antenna on the back is 0.5mm wide, which better solves the problem of signal and aesthetics of all-metal mobile phones.

Meizu MX5 still uses Sony IMX220 20.7-megapixel camera. It is also one of the few mobile phones besides iPhone 6 that has dual-color temperature flash in a circle. Below the flash is a laser rangefinder to improve the camera's focusing speed. It is said to be able to accurately focus in as fast as 0.2s within a range of 50cm.

Meizu MX5 supports dual nano SIM cards, and it can be clearly seen that the card slot with three riveted points is more reliable than before.

Meizu MX5 uses an amoled screen for the first time. The 5.5-inch 1080P resolution is not a very eye-catching indicator, but the contrast ratio can reach 10000:1, and the color performance is more vivid. This time, Meizu chose a lock screen wallpaper with richer colors.

The biggest advantage of the amoled screen is naturally its self-luminous property, which makes the screen almost off when displaying black content. In actual experience, the black picture on the Meizu MX5 screen is indeed quite black.

In terms of hardware configuration, the Meizu MX5 is equipped with a MediaTek MT6795T 64-bit octa-core processor. The actual running score of the machine in our hands is around 47,700 points, which is basically the same as the previous generation MX4. However, with the 64-bit Android 5.0 operating system, the Meizu MX5 finally brings Meizu's flagship phone into the true 64-bit era.
