BMW and Mercedes-Benz luxury car sales generally fell sharply in the first five months of 2024

Recently, Sun Shaojun, a well-known auto blogger, wrote that judging from the sales data of China's imported luxury cars from January to May, the trend of a sharp drop in the sales of super luxury brands is obvious. The data shows that as the three major luxury car brands in China, the sales of luxury cars of BMW and Mercedes-Benz generally fell sharply in the first five months of this year, with Mercedes-Benz falling by 9.6% and BMW's sales also falling by 6.9%. Only Audi maintained a year-on-year growth rate of 8.8%.

But compared with super luxury brands, the decline of BBA can only be regarded as an appetizer. Domestic super luxury brands have almost all plummeted by more than 30% this year.

Among them, Porsche sold a total of 22,292 vehicles in the first five months, a 40% year-on-year drop. As of now, it has sold more than 14,000 vehicles less than the same period last year.

As Maserati's brand reputation continues to decline, it sold 681 units in the first five months, a decrease of 1,517 units from last year, a year-on-year drop of 69%, second only to McLaren's 91.3%.

Bentley's sales in China in the first five months were 1,099 units. Although it exceeded the 1,000-unit mark, it still plummeted by 30.7% year-on-year. As for Bentley's golden partner Rolls-Royce, only 377 units were sold in the first five months, a year-on-year plunge of 32.6%.

As a representative brand of supercars, Ferrari's sales in China in the first five months were 348 units, a year-on-year drop of 31.1%; Lamborghini's sales in China were 258 units, a year-on-year decrease of 38.1%.

Overall, compared with luxury cars, the sales decline trend of super luxury brands this year is more obvious and intense.
