Windows 10 is best with 8GB of RAM

It is an absolute truth that more memory can improve computer performance, but everything has a limit. The current affordable memory prices have led users to blindly pursue large memory configurations, and 16GB and 32GB are common.

However, a recent test result shows that in daily use, too much memory can only bring psychological comfort, but does not significantly improve computer performance.

TechSpot recently tested the three most common memory capacity configurations of 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB, using Windows 10 as the operating system.

During the test, two browsers were opened and multiple web tabs were opened. At the same time, multiple software including Postbox, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel, and Dropbox were launched. This is basically the limit of daily use.

The final result shows that even when running Adobe Premier CC, which can consume 12GB of memory, for video processing, 16GB of memory capacity does not show more performance advantages than 8GB of memory, it is only 10 seconds faster. This must be thanked to Windows 10's excellent optimization of memory calls.

When running 65 Chrome tabs at the same time and opening "Batman: Arkham Knight", the performance advantage of 16GB of memory is even negligible.

So is a large memory really just a vase decoration? Not necessarily.

The tester emphasized that 16GB of memory still has a clear advantage in compressing large files.

Therefore, if you don't run virtual machines or edit videos, 8GB of memory will be the perfect capacity, and 16GB or more memory configuration will only make you waste more money.
