Why is it said that Win 10 system cannot achieve 1 billion installations?

At last year's Build developer conference, Terry Myerson, Microsoft's head of Windows and devices, said: "In the next two to three years, there will be 1 billion devices running Windows 10." It is obvious that Microsoft is full of confidence in Windows 10. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that the current Windows 10 system has been installed on more than 300 million devices, which is undoubtedly a very good result, but it is still a long way from the goal of 1 billion. In fact, in addition to the decline in Xbox One sales, the postponement of the release of Surface Hub, and the fact that HoloLens has not yet entered the consumer market, Microsoft needs to solve a very critical part to achieve the 1 billion installation volume of the Windows 10 system: smartphones. Data shows that the market share of Windows 10 system in the PC and notebook markets has reached 63% and 68%, although it is only 34% in the tablet market, but with the popularity of hybrid tablets, this number will continue to grow. In contrast, the market share of smartphones is only 11%, and the room for growth is already very limited. In addition to the overall slowdown in the smartphone market, the market share of Windows phones has been declining under the pressure of iPhones and Android phones, and Microsoft's own restructuring of its smartphone business has not achieved the expected results.
