Does using SSD just improve the read and write speed? Data security is more important

Perhaps it is because SSD (solid state drive) has a really sharp speed improvement compared to mechanical hard disk, and the time from computer startup to entering the system has been completely changed from minutes to seconds. In fact, the benefits of SSD are not only the change in speed. If you think that the investment of a few hundred yuan is only for these, then you are too young! The structure of SSD is relatively simple. There are no complex mechanical mechanisms such as rotating disks and magnetic heads. It is mainly composed of a control unit and a storage unit (FLASH chip). Simply put, it is a hard disk made of solid-state electronic storage chip arrays. Therefore, it has excellent shock resistance. No matter what state the computer is in, any action will not cause damage to it (except falling to the ground). Not to mention mechanical hard disks, even slight movement when using the computer may cause bad sectors. And in terms of performance, SSD is not a complete victory over mechanical hard disks. If you think it is 100% powerful in all aspects, it will be a joke at some times. In fact, the write speed of ultra-large capacity mechanical hard disks can reach 160MB/s, and the burst speed can even reach 477MB/s, which is almost the same as some low-end SSDs. So why do you feel that the computer has become faster after replacing the SSD? SSD has obvious changes in the random performance of small files. For example, the random read latency of SSD is only a few tenths of a millisecond, while the random read latency of 7200RPM is about 7 milliseconds, and the random read latency of 5400RPM hard disk is as high as 9 milliseconds, which is reflected in the performance of the power on and off speed. So, we should not think that SSD has improved the read and write speed, but its security and small file random performance have been substantially improved compared to traditional mechanical hard disks. There are also disadvantages. As long as the hardware is down, it is equivalent to completely destroying the data, unlike mechanical hard disks that can be disassembled and saved for a while. By the way, many manufacturers have launched SSDs with M.2 interfaces. M.2 SSDs are divided into SATA and PCI-E. Although they look exactly the same, their performance is very different. This is mainly because there are two interface definitions for M.2: Socket 2 and Socket 3. Socket 2 supports SSDs with SATA and PCI-E ×2 channels, and Socket 3 is designed for high-performance storage and supports PCI-E ×4. Different channels naturally have different performances, so when purchasing, you must carefully read the manufacturer's introduction, ask the pre-sales staff, and understand what kind of M.2 interface SSD your device supports. If you buy the wrong one, it's not just a matter of price difference (PCI-E version is more expensive), but also very troublesome to return or exchange.
