MediaTek financial report: Dimensity flagship chip revenue increased 100% year-on-year to US$2 billion in Q4 2024

According to recent news, chip giant MediaTek recently held a performance briefing for the fourth quarter and full year of 2024, and its overall performance not only met expectations, but also exceeded them. This achievement was largely due to the strong growth in demand for artificial intelligence (AI). MediaTek expects its ASIC business to successfully cross the $1 billion revenue mark in 2026.

MediaTek CEO Cai Lixing revealed at the meeting that the significant growth in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2024 was mainly due to the hot sales of OPPO and vivo flagship phones equipped with Dimensity 9400 chips in the market . In particular, the vivo X200 series and OPPO Find X8 series flagship phones both use MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 chips, which has injected strong momentum into the company's performance growth.

Looking back at the whole of 2024, MediaTek's revenue growth was also impressive, mainly due to the doubling of revenue from flagship chips including Dimensity 9300 and 9400.

Cai Lixing emphasized that the revenue growth of Dimensity flagship chips in 2024 exceeded 100%, far exceeding the previously expected growth of 70%, contributing up to US$2 billion in revenue to the company. In addition, the wired and wireless communication business from global operators also achieved a year-on-year growth of 30%, further promoting the improvement of the company's overall performance.

Looking ahead, Cai Lixing said that MediaTek is optimistic about its revenue in the first quarter of 2025, and expects to have better-than-seasonal growth. This growth expectation is mainly due to the demand growth brought about by the consumer subsidy policy in mainland China, and the increase in customer demand for products such as smartphones, TVs, Wi-Fi devices, tablets and Chromebooks in an environment of global tariff uncertainty.

At the same time, MediaTek also expects its smart device platform business revenue to achieve steady growth. This growth momentum mainly comes from the continued growth in demand for wireless and wired connection products, the healthy development of the computing device market, and the continuous optimization of product portfolio. However, due to seasonal factors, the power management chip business revenue may decline to a certain extent.
