China Jiangxi Net reported that at the Jiangxi Copyright Work Press Conference that opened today, it was announced that a man was fined 10,000 yuan for installing a pirated Windows 7 system.

The report mentioned that on July 18, 2016, the Yingtan City Cultural Market Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade conducted an inspection on Yingtan Free Space Network Co., Ltd. based on clues from the case. During the inspection, law enforcement officers found that the computers used by the company were installed with the Windows 7 operating system, and the operator failed to provide the legal source of the software.

It turned out that the Windows 7 operating system was downloaded and installed from the Internet without authorization by Yang, an outsourced network maintenance worker of the company. Yang also installed the operating system for many computers including Yingtan Baofeng Network Co., Ltd., Zhonghao Network Culture Co., Ltd., and Xinshishang Network Co., Ltd., and received a fixed remuneration from the above-mentioned companies every month.

Due to violation of copyright law, the above-mentioned company deleted the pirated software, Yang stopped the infringement and was imposed an administrative penalty of 10,000 yuan.
