European Automobile Manufacturers Association: Tesla's European sales fell 45% year-on-year to 9,945 units in January 2024
As demand for electric vehicles surges in Europe, Tesla's sales in Europe plummeted in January. According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, Tesla registered only 9,945 vehicles in January, a 45% drop from 18,161 vehicles in the same period last year. Overall electric vehicle sales in Europe surged 37%, with the fastest growth in Germany and the UK.

Tesla is currently busy revamping the production line of its best-selling Model Y SUV, while CEO Musk's political stance on Europe has also sparked controversy. After becoming a major donor to Trump in last year's US election, Musk has set his sights on Europe, supporting far-right parties and attacking the current government. In addition to blasting the leaders of Germany and Britain, Musk has joined Trump in disparaging Zelensky and questioning the Ukrainian president's poll ratings.

Tesla sold just 1,277 new cars in Germany last month, the lowest monthly total since July 2021. Sales in France plummeted 63%, the worst performance since August 2022.
