Google releases Android 5.0 developer kit

However, to use these APIs, developers first need an SDK. Now the Android 5.0 SDK is officially available for download. The complete SDK includes the Android 5.0 SDK platform and tools, emulator system images, the v7 appcompat support library for Material Design theme backward compatibility, and the leanback library that supports Android TV apps.

According to the official Google blog, Google has provided system image downloads for Nexus 5 and 7 (2013 models) series smartphones. However, it will not provide OTA download support for the developer preview version. However, it is expected that Android 5.0 will be officially provided to consumers for update in early November, which is exactly when the new Nexus 6, 9 and Nexus Player will be launched.
