Apple to launch dedicated app for Apple Watch

In the early morning of January 13th, Beijing time, Apple released the latest beta version of the iOS 8.2 operating system, adding support for the company's next major product, the Apple Watch smartwatch.

A new panel has been added to the Bluetooth Settings menu in iOS 8.2 to specifically support Bluetooth connections between iPhone and Apple Watch. In addition, the instructions inside the menu also specifically point out that Apple will release a dedicated "Apple Watch app" to facilitate users to set up and control this wearable smart device.

Apple Watch users will be able to install an Apple Watch app on their iPhone, which will be used to download apps to the Apple Watch and potentially manage Apple Watch settings. Users will also be able to use their iPhone to help with computing needs, and it's clear that Apple wants to push users to use their iPhone for their computing needs in order to extend the battery life of the Apple Watch.

Earlier this month, sources revealed that Apple Watch is scheduled to start shipping in March this year, and Apple will begin training its retail employees in mid-February.

The latest beta version of iOS 8.2 does not yet offer the Apple Watch app, but when the Apple Watch is released in March, the app will likely be pre-installed in iOS 8.2 or available through the App Store. The Apple Watch will start at $349 and currently only works with iPhone 5 or later.
