As one of the largest acquisitions in Apple's history, it has been more than 6 months since Apple acquired Beats. Apart from some personnel changes, the more obvious sign is probably the increase in the number of Beats headphones in stores. Hardware is certainly not Apple's main goal. News from 9to5Mac revealed Apple's integration plan and product details of Beats Music. The source said that the integration process has been delayed, and Apple intends to launch a new streaming music service that is completely designed by Apple, but the content and technology come from Beats. Apple does not seem to intend to revamp the existing Beats Music App and move it directly to the iPhone. Instead, it has decided to deeply integrate Beats into iOS, iTunes and Apple TV. Similar to services such as Spotify and Radio, this service is still mainly based on cloud playback and is integrated with the user's music library. Apple will launch a new search function that can directly search the iTunes/Beats catalog. Users can play streaming music from the catalog or add music to the music library. Users can choose to store specific tracks on the local device or just in the cloud. In addition, Apple will also deeply integrate Beats Music's singers, events, and remixes, and even upgrade Beats' social functions, allowing users to follow other users or singers. To reduce migration costs, Apple will allow users to integrate their Beats Music accounts with their Apple IDs, and existing users can also import their Beats music libraries directly into iTunes. Like all streaming music services, this service is not free, but Apple may be hoping to take the low-price route, lower than the industry's mainstream $9.99 monthly price and $99.99 annual price, to compete with services such as Gooogle Play Music, Spotify, and Rdio. Perhaps the biggest highlight of this service is that it is not closed in the iOS ecosystem. Apple will develop an Android application for this service. After all, Android has a very high market share in the United States and even the global market, and this will be the first service ever stationed in the Android ecosystem by Apple. Unfortunately, Beats Music has been tepid since its launch in January last year, with only 110,000 users as of mid-last year. However, when Apple once again integrates an app into its vast ecosystem, even expanding it to Android, coupled with low prices, can it reverse the failures of Ping and iTunes Radio in the past? |
