Apple Pay is officially launched. Will the mobile payment market be a three-kingdoms drama?

Apple Pay is here. Is it an official announcement that you don’t need to carry bank cards when you go out? A year and a half has passed since the fall of 2014. In the Apple Fall New Product Launch Conference in September of that year, Cook first demonstrated this payment function based on Touch ID (fingerprint recognition) and NFC technology. Now domestic users finally have the opportunity to experience it. Simply put, Apple Pay is like a card wallet. You can store all your bank cards in the Wallet of your iPhone or Watch, and then use them on POS that supports UnionPay Cloud QuickPass.

Before Apple Pay entered China, the domestic third-party payment market was basically dominated by WeChat and Alipay. However, Alipay had just gone through the "Jingyefu" incident, and WeChat announced that it would charge withdrawal fees. At this delicate and appropriate time, Apple Pay landed in the Chinese market. People can't help but ask, is the drama of Three Kingdoms about to begin?

In China, mobile payment, led by Alipay and WeChat Pay, has been quite developed in first- and second-tier cities. Why do users choose Apple Pay? Because Apple has a huge user base and strong appeal, and its achievements in design and craftsmanship are also recognized, so there is no doubt that Apple Pay will attract a large number of Apple users. Apple said that the advantages of Apple Pay are simplicity, security, and emphasis on privacy. Apple Pay uses fingerprint recognition, which may be the safest form of mobile transaction at present.

So, how do you use Apple Pay?

Apple Pay supports both offline and online payment methods. The iPhone and Apple Watch are used differently in offline transactions. Currently, there are three ways to add a bound bank card. Apple staff said that there are three ways to enter bank card information: First, when registering an Apple account, the locked bank card can be used as the default bank payment account. One of the options is "Archived Card". You only need to enter the security code to complete the binding immediately; the second is to obtain bank card information through the camera; the third is to manually enter the card information. After receiving the bank card activation information and passing the verification, Apple Pay can be used.

Starting today, credit cards and debit cards of twelve banks, including the Agricultural Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and China Construction Bank, will support Apple Pay. Another seven banks, including Ping An Bank and Communications Bank, will support it in the near future, basically covering 80% of domestic credit card and debit card users.
