The day of 5G commercial trial is getting closer and closer, and as 5G is about to arrive, the concept of 6G has been officially proposed. Li Xin, head of the IMT-2020 (5G) wireless technology working group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, recently revealed that the 6G concept research will be officially launched this year.

According to previous reports, Li Huidi, vice president of China Mobile, delivered a speech at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, and also stated at the forum "5G Era: Open Cooperation, Create the Future" that China Mobile's 5G plan will be pre-commercial in 2019 and commercial in 2020. At the same time, China Mobile will launch 5G smartphones in the first half of 2019. As a veteran domestic operator, China Mobile will also take the lead in launching the 5G terminal pioneer plan and will release a 5G terminal white paper this year.

As technology and ecology gradually mature, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has officially expressed its position on the concept of 6G. Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, also said that China had begun researching 6G in March this year.

In addition to China, countries such as the United States, Russia and the European Union are also conducting related conceptual design and research and development work. It is expected that research and development will officially begin in 2020 and be put into commercial use in 2030.
