Google removes Android One's two-year system update guarantee

According to foreign media reports, Google has quietly deleted the statement that all Android One devices are guaranteed to have two years of operating system upgrades. The official website of Android One now mentions that all Android One devices are guaranteed to have monthly security updates from mobile phone manufacturers. However, there is no mention of operating system upgrades anywhere.

Google's Android One program has influenced the dynamics of the smartphone market in 2018. Many mobile phone manufacturers in the Android family understand that a certain number of consumers want smartphones that provide a pure native Android experience and can guarantee timely updates of the operating system. Nokia has achieved great success in launching its smartphones through the Android One program. Motorola and Xiaomi have also joined the ranks to maintain their sales in overseas markets.

Now that Google has deleted this promise, it means that except for Google's own Pixel series phones, all phones joining the Android One plan may not be able to upgrade the system twice. Perhaps the first Android One phones will still need to be adapted by phone manufacturers themselves, which will undoubtedly deal a blow to the sales of Android One series phones.

The removal of this description from the official website may be an accident, but if this result is true, the enthusiasm of manufacturers to continue investing in this project will be greatly reduced, and existing Android One users will also complain about this matter.
