Google removes Armadillo system UI from Fuchsia

In the past two years, Google has been developing a new open source operating system Fuchsia, which does not use the Linux kernel, but a microkernel called Zircon. Google also abandoned the GPL license. Fuchsia's license is a mixture of BSD 3 clause, MIT and Apache 2.0.

It was developed as an open source project so that outsiders can track its development progress. Last year it was discovered to have introduced a new system UI.

Its UI layer uses the Flutter SDK developed in the Dart language, and the system UI codename is Armadillo. Someone even managed to demonstrate Armadillo on a Pixelbook.

However, Google completely removed Armadillo in a recent code change, and developers even gave it a title called "Armadillo fainted!". Armadillo has now been replaced by Ermine, a shell for developers.
