On January 9, Sogou Maps launched the AR real-life driving navigation function on mobile maps, which realizes high-precision navigation based on visual perception and computing power and AR as the expression form.

It is reported that mobile AR real-scene navigation can present the real scene outside the window to users in real time through the mobile phone camera. It can also distinguish objects in real driving scenes such as lanes, cars, people, traffic signs, etc. in real time , and compare and correct them with map models. The navigation information can be marked in the real scene through three-dimensional reconstruction and overlay rendering.

In addition, the AR real-scene navigation function can also calculate the real-time vehicle distance and issue a warning to the car owner when the user's vehicle is too close, ensuring the user's driving safety .

Kong Xianglai, head of Sogou Maps, said in an interview that the traditional map surveying model is that map manufacturers maintain their own teams, and then regularly go out to sweep the streets and bring back data. This development speed may not keep up.

After the introduction of AR technology, users may participate in the entire map-making process, which is the UGC model. In addition to obtaining various GPS data and sensor data, there is also more visual data. Users can obtain some information based on external visual collection during the AR navigation process.

In the future, with the further development of Sogou Map's AR real-scene navigation, indoor navigation, which is currently in a blank stage, may also become an application scenario.
