Apple offers free replacement program for some iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR smart battery cases

In January 2019, Apple launched a smart battery case designed specifically for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, which can add extra battery life to the phone. Affected smart battery case users can go to their local Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store to make an appointment for replacement. Staff will inspect the smart battery cases to verify whether they meet the requirements of the replacement plan. For this batch of problematic smart battery cases, Apple will handle them in an environmentally friendly manner.

The mobile phone models involved in this free smart battery case replacement plan do not include other iPhone series smart battery case users, which means that iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max smart battery case users are not included in this plan.

Apple's smart battery case is similar to the iPhone silicone case, but the difference is that it has a bulge on the back and a built-in port that can be connected to the iPhone's lightning port for charging. After the user installs the smart battery case on the phone, the phone will default to consuming all the power in the battery case first, and then use the phone's power.
