China Academy of Information and Communications Technology: Mobile phone shipments fell 38.9% in January 2020, and 5G mobile phone shipments reached 5.465 million units

Recently, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the "January 2020 Domestic Mobile Phone Market Operation Analysis Report". The report shows that the domestic mobile phone shipments in January 2020 were 20.813 million units, of which 5.465 million were 5G mobile phones.

It is understood that in January 2020, the total shipments of the domestic mobile phone market were 20.813 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 38.9%, including 346,000 2G mobile phones, 15.003 million 4G mobile phones, and 5.465 million 5G mobile phones.

In terms of new models launched in the domestic mobile phone market, in January 2020, 34 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, including 8 2G mobile phones, 18 4G mobile phones, and 8 5G mobile phones.

In terms of domestic and foreign brand composition, in January 2020, the shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones was 18.319 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 42.9%, accounting for 88.0% of the mobile phone shipments in the same period; 33 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%, accounting for 97.1% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

In terms of smartphone shipments, in January 2020, smartphone shipments reached 20.366 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 36.6%, accounting for 97.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period, of which Android phones accounted for 88.7% of smartphones.

In terms of new smartphone models, in January 2020, 26 new smartphone models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%, accounting for 76.5% of the number of new smartphone models launched in the same period, all of which support the Android operating system.
