Never rent out your WeChat account, as you may become an accomplice to crime. The authorities will crack down on this severely!

"High price to buy V, if you don't want to sell, you can rent it, 180/day"

"Add me on WeChat for rent, valid for a long time"

“Register for 1 year, bind mobile phone, and have transaction records”

Can WeChat be rented out? You can earn hundreds of yuan by lending it out for a few days. This kind of "getting something for nothing" really exists, but WeChat is cracking down on this behavior and has revealed why some people rent accounts and the dangers behind it.

WeChat Security Center issued a detailed explanation. It turns out that WeChat explicitly prohibits any behavior that harms others or the public interest, and has established corresponding punishment measures. Once malicious accounts that violate the rules are found and confirmed, the WeChat security system will immediately block them.

When an account is blocked, criminals must find a new available account to continue their illegal activities. The so-called "renting an account" is a solution devised by black industry organizations (commonly known as "account merchants").

In the past, account dealers could register WeChat accounts in large quantities through plug-in tools and simulate normal user operations (such as automatically adding friends, automatically forwarding Moments, etc.). However, this behavior, commonly known as "robot account raising", has become difficult as WeChat crackdowns have been escalated in recent years. Malicious registration is not feasible, so account dealers gradually came up with the idea of "renting" real WeChat accounts.

WeChat reminds: Renting WeChat accounts is a trap in itself. Those who have the need to "rent accounts" are either illegal criminal gangs or gray industry organizations that want to "play the edge ball". They post false advertisements online, calling it "short-term rental", which is actually a disguised form of hacking, tricking users into handing over their accounts and passwords, and then naturally using these accounts for other purposes.

The consequence of opening account usage rights to these people is that the user's account may be stolen later, directly damaging the vital interests of themselves and their relatives and friends, or they may become involved in the operation of online black and gray industries without knowing it.

Some "account rental" schemes are more sophisticated, not only promising "daily payment and no interference with users' normal lives", but also that users do not need to provide their account passwords and can directly scan the code to log in. The whole set of rhetoric seems innocent, but during the period when the account is rented out, these gangs secretly use the rented account to carry out malicious activities such as spam marketing, soliciting prostitutes, and spreading bad information, which harms the network environment.

Moreover, since ordinary users' real-name accounts have payment functions and generally have no abnormal transaction records, they are easily targeted by illegal gangs (the so-called "water rooms"), who use them to split and "launder" their stolen money and evade the monitoring and tracking of regulatory authorities and the police. Once the WeChat accounts rented out by users are involved in the "money laundering" storm, their accounts will no longer be "innocent".

The WeChat team has been cracking down on and preventing the rental and sale of WeChat accounts on the platform to prevent users from falling into traps and becoming accomplices of criminals' crimes.

In fact, the "Tencent WeChat Software License and Service Agreement" has clearly stipulated that WeChat users have the right to use their accounts, but they cannot rent or transfer their accounts to others, nor can they rent or borrow other people's WeChat accounts.

WeChat officials remind: We hope everyone stays away from such illegal behavior. No matter where you see similar "rent and sell WeChat" information, stay calm and don't be fooled by the high interest promised by the other party. If you find such illegal advertisements in WeChat, you can also report it through the client or enter the mini program Tencent 110.
