Today, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice on APPs that infringe on user rights and interests (the fifth batch in 2020). The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that in accordance with the "Cybersecurity Law", "Telecommunications Regulations", "Telecommunications and Internet User Personal Information Protection Regulations" and other laws and regulations, and in accordance with the work deployment of the "Notice on Deepening the Special Remediation Action against APP Infringement of User Rights" (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Information Management [2020] No. 164), our department recently organized a third-party testing agency to inspect mobile phone application software and urge companies with problems to make rectifications. As of now, there are still 131 APPs that have not completed rectification. The above-mentioned APPs should complete the rectification work before November 2. During this inspection, many problems were found in the inspection of APPs such as input methods, travel, e-commerce, audio and video . Some application stores and mobile application distribution platforms lacked management responsibilities, and SDK companies violated regulations by collecting user personal information. Subsequently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will take measures such as removing from shelves, suspending access, imposing administrative penalties, and including companies in the list of poor telecommunications business operators or the list of untrustworthy companies, and severely deal with them in accordance with the law. |
