Google is adding a feature to its Chrome password manager that will allow users to change compromised passwords with the click of a few buttons. If its Safety Check feature finds a potentially compromised password, the information will now include a "Change Password" button for supported sites. Clicking the button will automatically take you to the page to change the password for that website, and you will be asked to fill in a new, suggested, secure password. Of course, the password will then be stored in Chrome's password manager. Google said the feature is powered in part by its Duplex for the Web technology, which was originally launched to help with tasks like ordering food and buying movie tickets, but in its blog post, Google said you can always interrupt the process if you prefer to do it manually. Similar features can be found in other password managers, like Dashlane, making it easier for people to update compromised passwords and keep them somewhere safe, helping people stay safe online even after a service has been breached or even a password has been leaked. Google says the feature will be gradually rolled out to Chrome for Android users in the U.S., but users will see it more in the "coming months." Google also announced that the password manager will support importing data from other managers and automatically checking for compromised passwords.
