Then he found WeChat, and found a large number of junk files in WeChat's FileStorage file, including hundreds of GB of cheesy videos and emoticons, all sent by other people in various groups. However, he said that he had never opened them, but WeChat downloaded them.

This experience is not new. Not only does the mobile version of WeChat take up a lot of storage space, but the PC version of WeChat does the same. Just as Gu Chedan said, if you join some groups that like to send videos, voice messages or emoticons, then the C drive space will be filled up quickly. Many people in the comments have fallen into this trap.

There is no solution either. Some people have pointed out several key points. One is to cancel the "Turn on automatic file downloading" function in the settings, so that videos and other files will not be downloaded automatically.

The second point is to log in on the PC and do not check the setting for automatic message synchronization, otherwise WeChat will automatically synchronize the records on the mobile phone, which will also take up a lot of space.

Are these all the difficult parts? No, there is another problem with the PC WeChat version, that is, the received files and videos are arranged by month, not by group name or user name, which makes it difficult to find them when needed.

Having said that, although the PC version of WeChat automatically downloads and saves files and takes up a lot of space, the original intention is still good. After all, many work files need to be processed on the PC.
