Windows 11 is guaranteed to run Android apps, Amazon Appstore will support AAB

When Microsoft announced the Windows 11 operating system, one of the main selling points of the operating system was that users would be able to install and use Android apps on Windows devices. Running Android apps on Windows 11 devices does not use mirroring or screen casting technology, but native support for Android apps. As Google continues to strengthen its control over Android apps, Microsoft chose to cooperate with Amazon to integrate Amazon Appstore support into Windows 11. In Microsoft's promotion, Windows 11 users can browse the store, install and manage apps and games in the store, and use them on their devices. A few days later, Google announced that it will switch from the current Android app APK format to the new AAB format, and will begin enforcing this regulation for new apps from August 2021. Android developers need to submit their apps to the Google Play Store in the new format. The AAB format has some advantages over APK, which can be found in our previous report (link). These include smaller app distribution sizes and the new format fine-tuning distribution content for specific devices. Recently, Amazon officially confirmed that its app store will support the latest AAB format. Amazon said: The Amazon Appstore is actively working to support the new format, which will bring users benefits such as smaller app space footprint and on-demand download capabilities. Unlike the Google Play Store, the AAB format is an optional format in the Amazon Appstore. Developers can continue to upload APK files for their app packages or use the new format once it is supported. Another difference between the requirements of Google Play and Amazon Appstore is that Google requires developers to submit their app signing keys, while Amazon does not. Microsoft's Windows 11 operating system will also benefit from Amazon's decision, ensuring that the new format will also be supported on Microsoft's next version of Windows. Amazon said they will provide more details after the Appstore officially supports the AAB format.
