1. You can view the real-time location of your friends or family

When you open the Find App, you can check the location of your friends or family, but you need to authorize them in advance.

What is different from before is that the real-time location is now updated in real time, instead of every few minutes as before.

Apple said the purpose of launching the real-time location feature is to provide instant speed, directions and progress when users view someone's location.

2. Lost devices that have been turned off can also be found

In iOS 15, Find My can track devices that are turned off. This is very practical. If your phone is stolen and the thief deliberately turns it off, you will definitely be doomed. Now there is a glimmer of hope that it can be found when the stolen phone is close to another Apple device.

However, this function can only work under a prerequisite, that is, the battery (not the phone's power level, but the battery) must be charged. If the phone is stolen and the battery is dead, then it will be the same.

In addition, to use this feature, you must turn on the "Find" network function, which is turned on by default.

3. Find the lost device that has been erased

Many times, thieves will wipe their phones to avoid being found by the owner. In iOS 15, erased devices will still appear in the Find My app.

In previous iOS systems, the "Find" function would become ineffective after erasing the device.

But now, if Activation Lock is on (that is, the device is not unlinked with the user's username and password first), it will still be associated with the user's account after being wiped, and the "Find" function can still be used.

In addition, when the iPhone is in this state, the "Hello interface" will indicate that the device is locked after it is turned on, which can prevent thieves from using your phone for illegal transactions.

4. Forgotten Alarm

The Find My app can send alerts to other devices you carry with you and pop up notifications on your iPhone.

The forgotten alert feature also works with AirTags and third-party accessories that support Find Network.

Generally, this function can be used when you forget to take other Apple devices with you. For example, you take your iPhone and computer with you when you go out, but when you return home you only take your iPhone and forget the computer. Then your phone will receive a notification to remind you that you missed your computer.

But if you didn't bring it on purpose rather than forgetting to bring it, you can also set up an exception for this situation and you won't receive a reminder later.

5. Find My AirPods

In previous iOS, if the AirPods were not within the Bluetooth connection range of your device, you could only see their last connection location.

But now, these items, like AirTag, can use other people's cooperating devices to locate themselves.

6. "Find" widget

iOS 15 has added a new "Find" widget. Friends in need can add it to your phone's home screen or "Today" view, so that you can check the location of a device more quickly without opening the "Find" app.

The widget comes in two sizes to suit different usage habits.

7. Support for iPad and Mac

Apple hasn’t mentioned much about this feature yet, but on iPad, it actually supports separate alarms, widgets, and the real-time location of family and friends.

Macs that upgrade to macOS Monterey will support widgets, real-time location of family and friends, and offline tracking of erased devices.
