Google unveiled Material You, the latest iteration of its Material design language, at its I/O conference earlier this year. Since then, Google has been adding Material You elements to its apps. In the past few months, Google has redesigned the Chrome browser, SMS, Contacts, and more. Now, Google is rolling out a Material You redesign for the time picker UI in its Android apps. According to foreign media 9to5Google, the new time picker UI has a more touch-friendly design. As shown in the figure below, the updated UI provides better spacing for the "hour" and "minute" fields, making them easier to click, and there are more obvious borders around the AM/PM buttons. ▲ The new time selector is on the right When users enter the time manually, the new UI makes better use of the available space. The time field now takes up most of the space, and the previous "Set Time" heading has been removed. The AM/PM drop-down menu has also been replaced with a more distinct button, and the highlight on the AM/PM button is more obvious than before. ▲ The new time selector is on the right ▲ New horizontal time selector Foreign media did not specify whether only Android 12 can experience the new time picker UI. However, it represents a new design direction for Android and will appear in more and more mobile phones in the future. |
