Interesting details of Windows Android subsystem revealed: It even supports Xbox platform?

Although the release date of the official version of Windows 11 is quite close, the Windows Subsystem for Android feature officially announced by Microsoft in June has not been delivered to test users. However, judging from the introduction page now available on the Microsoft Store, the company has revealed some interesting details about the Android subsystem.

Old friend WalkingCat (@_h0x0d_) shared this special link on Twitter, but it seems that it is still not officially activated.

Even though it can be downloaded after clicking, this WSA software will only pop up a blank window when installed and opened on Windows 11. If it is a Windows 10 platform, it cannot even perform the installation.

The good news is that the product page does at least include some interesting details. For one thing, it has lowered the system requirements to Windows 10 Build 22000.0, the same development branch we're currently seeing on the Beta testing channel.

On the other hand, the Microsoft Store also lists Xbox One as a supported platform, something Microsoft has never mentioned before.

Supported architectures include ARM64 and x64, and the minimum required memory (RAM) capacity is 8GB. As for the recommended configuration, there is no difference except that the memory requirement is increased to 16GB.

Interestingly, the Microsoft Store page warns that users should not capture WSA screens or leak other content, suggesting that it is still in an internal testing phase limited to Microsoft employees.

Finally, while Microsoft hasn't disclosed more details about Android app support, the company does have a partnership with Amazon on an Android app store.

After the update, users will be able to download and install Android apps such as TikTok, Pinterest, and Kindle.

In addition, these apps can be pinned to the taskbar, aligned with other programs, and have their windows resized, just like Windows applications.

>>:  Xiaomi phones can improve the security and fluency of their phones through these settings.
