September 6 news: Thanks to IT Home netizen @无法找到夜雀的幽幽子 for his enthusiastic clue submission, if the user's WeChat is bound to a mobile phone number outside of mainland China, he or she may currently receive a request to "change the mobile phone number" or "migrate to WeChat".



The WeChat page prompts that according to the requirement that the location of the WeChat/WeChat account and the location of the mobile phone number must be consistent, if the user wants to continue using the current mobile phone number, he needs to switch to WeChat.

The prompt page also shows that WeChat and WeChat are sister products operated by different entities under Tencent, although some functions can be interoperable under mobile conditions. When switching to WeChat, users need to abide by the WeChat Terms of Service and WeChat Privacy Policy.

In addition, the prompt page also points out that, subject to applicable laws, user data will be migrated to WeChat servers within 10 working days.

The following features that were once available to WeChat users will no longer be available:

  • Video account (in some areas);
  • Games (in some areas);
  • Health codes and other mini-programs that require facial recognition information;
  • Children's watches;
  • live streaming;
  • Teen Mode;
  • WeChat beans.
