At the end of September, the number of 5G mobile phone terminal connections in China reached 445 million

This year, China has accelerated the construction of 5G networks. As of the end of September, the total number of mobile phone base stations reached 9.69 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%, and a net increase of 377,000 over the end of last year. Among them, the total number of 4G base stations was 5.86 million, accounting for 60.4%; the total number of 5G base stations was 1.159 million, accounting for 12% of the total number of mobile base stations.

As of the end of September, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 1.64 billion, a net increase of 41.85 million from the end of last year, of which the number of 5G mobile phone terminal connections reached 445 million.

The data also shows that the number of cellular IoT users has increased rapidly this year. As of the end of September, the three basic telecommunications companies had developed 1.364 billion cellular IoT terminal users, a net increase of 229 million over the end of last year. Among them, terminal users applied to smart manufacturing, smart transportation, and smart public utilities accounted for 17.5%, 16.6%, and 22.4% respectively. The number of smart public utilities terminal users increased by 25.5% year-on-year, with the most prominent growth.

In the first three quarters, the cumulative mobile Internet traffic reached 160.8 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 35.8%. Among them, the traffic through mobile Internet reached 153.8 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 36.4%, accounting for 95.7% of the total mobile Internet traffic.

In addition, in the first three quarters, China's telecommunications business revenue totaled 1,108.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%, an increase of 5.2 percentage points over the same period last year. The total telecommunications business volume calculated at the same price as last year was 1,239 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28%.
