On January 17, according to Cailianshe, data from multiple mainstream mobile app stores such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo showed that the number of downloads of the digital RMB (pilot version) App has exceeded 20 million, nearly doubling the number of downloads 10 days ago.

It is reported that during the Winter Olympics, domestic and foreign consumers can choose the digital RMB App or digital RMB hardware wallet according to their own habits and preferences.

According to official introduction, the Digital RMB (Pilot Version) App is the official service platform for the pilot of China's legal digital currency - Digital RMB for individual users, providing the opening and management of digital RMB personal wallets, and the exchange and circulation of digital RMB.

In terms of transaction methods, in addition to scanning codes, the Digital RMB App also supports offline payments. During the digital RMB transaction process, the payment can still be completed even if the terminal of the payee or payer is offline and has no network.

It is understood that the dual offline payment of digital RMB is realized by NFC technology, which requires the devices of both the payer and the payee to have the hardware wallet function with a built-in security chip. In other words, the pain point of "no signal, no payment" is expected to be solved.

At present, the digital RMB is being piloted in 11 regions including Shenzhen, Suzhou, Xiongan, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hainan, Changsha, Xi'an, Qingdao, Dalian and the Winter Olympics scenes (Beijing and Zhangjiakou).
